If you guys are following me on Snapchat [themakeupfairy] you’ll know that I regularly mention some of my holy grail products. The moment I open up my snaps I get questions and mails about my favourites everyday items and suggestions, so I’ve decided to do a full face favourites blog post for you all.
Foundation
Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk has been a staple in my kit since I began as an MUA 8 years ago, mentioned in my Current Favourite Foundations article recently, it offers seamless coverage that’s ultra hydrating and dewy, yet long lasting and flawless. I wear shade 6 in the colder months and move up two or three shades when I’m away on holidays.
Concealer
NARS Creamy Concealer in custard provides medium to high buildable coverage with a natural, radiant finish that lasts all day. The texture feels luxurious and is enriched with hydrating skincare benefits meaning it won’t dry out the under eye area. It camouflages dark circles and reduces the appearance of redness and skin imperfections.
Bronzer
Urban Decay’s Beached Bronzer is a recent addition to my make up bag. Usually a fan of Mac Give Me Sun this is a really nice alternative that offers the same natural holiday glow and subtle contour. I also love the pretty packaging of this finely milled, super soft powder that applies smoothly, doesn’t streak and creates radiance.
Blusher & Highlight
Urban Decay’s Naked Flushed Blush Palette is such a handy trio especially for traveling. Containing a bronzer similar to the above, a highlighter and blusher, there’s a few colour combos to choose from. You can swish your brush over all three to warm up the face or use the individual silky sections to add a gorgeous pop of colour to your apples or light diffusing highlighter to ensure your cheeks are on fleek.
Brows
MAC’s Fluidline is a gel formula which provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish meaning it can also be used for the brows. I’m also a fan of and feature Anastasia and Inglot Brow Gels. All three brands over long wearing, smudge proof, perfectly defined brows when applied with an angled brush to emulate hair strokes.
Eye Primer
Urban Decay’s Primer Potion has always been my holy grail shadow base, an essential as an MUA I use it daily whether I’m wearing liner or shadow. It offers 24 hours of vibrant, crease free colour and now the new anti ageing addition minimises the appearance of fine lines in eight weeks.
Eyes
Charlotte Tilbury’s Dolce Vita Palette has got to be my favourite quad of all time. Although I love so many brands and palettes this really ticks every box. The packaging is divine and travel friendly, the colours are complimentary for every skin tone, working harmoniously together to create the perfect day to night look. The shadows are highly pigmented with little to no fall out and last all day.
Mascara
Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara has been a firm favourite of mine for at least a year now. The ultra creamy and comfortable formula is lengthening and volumising with ultra black pigments to really coat your lashes. The wand is lovely and fat without adding any excess product which can cause clumps.
Lips
MAC’s Whirl Lip Pencil is a shade i constantly reach for that works with a myriad of lipsticks and glosses. Ideal for shaping, lining and filling in the lip, it’s the perfect ‘Kylie Jenner’ shade, one she’s a huge fan of. MAC’s Modesty Lipstick is the ultimate accompaniment, I’m literally addicted to this shade and formulation. Enriched with high intensity colour and low sheen lustre it’s long wearing and comfortable. Tom Ford Nude Vanille popped on top, focusing on the centre gives you the perfect pout.
Setting Spray
Finally, Urban Decay’s All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray is the spritz that secures my face in place everyday. It keeps your makeup looking fresh, ensures it will last all day and promises no melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines even if you have to top up with the likes of powder in hot weather.
