While 19,000 of you were interacting on my skin colour over on Facebook yesterday after I posted a picture looking naturally brown after some sunbathing I was busy drafting a review on my top protecting products 😛 From high to low end, high to low factors, face and body products, these are my SPF suggestions. Having worked for the beauty counter as a Make Up Artist I know and believe in Shiseido as a brand and their high quality Wetforce range is rather wonderful. Providing powerful protection for your skin, this innovative protective veil actually becomes even more effective when it comes into contact with water or perspiration. It also includes skincare ingredients that prevent dryness, oxidation and damage to cells and DNA. It provides high sun protection technology, yet is comfortable and gentle on the skin and comes in the perfect poolside packaging. Ideal for a family holiday or one where you intend on spending a lot of time thrashing about in the water.
An avid user and fan of their skincare in general Clarins comes up trumps in terms of sun protection and although I adore their body products it’s their Day Screen Multi Protection SPF 50 that’s worth a mention considering a high factor on the face is essential. This complete multi purpose day screen offers protection against the harmful effects of UV rays, free radicals and pollution to help maintain a youthful, radiant and even complexion. With an ultra fine lightweight formula it’s perfect to protect your skin worn on it’s own or under make up, particularly in cities or if you are exposed to outdoor aggressors for a long period of time. This is an all year round favourite suitable for at home or abroad and comes in the perfect travel size bottle.
Where do I begin with the necessities from the Nuxe range. They probably stock the most beautiful body product protection around; from their packaging, scent and quality I simply can’t fault this flawless Sun range. This is one of the only ranges I get excited about re applying; the scent and texture alone feel like luxurious light weight lotions. Even better they contain both anti aging cellular protection and UV protection properties. The low protection oil for example is enriched with extracts of sun and water flowers to moisturise and soothe the skin while protecting it from UVA/UVB rays. Whether you’re pasty pale or chocolate brown like me there’s something for you, from high SPF creams that apply like a dream and oils that give the most gorgeous gradual tan.
Moving on to some budget buys the Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Advanced range is high quality and high factor. The recent range was developed especially to care for your skin and give reinforced protection against long UVA rays. The products conform to European recommendations for protection against the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays, has a hypoallergenic formula, additional anti long UVA technology, a light texture that’s not sticky or white like others I’ve tried and is free from perfume, colourants and parabens. This is suitable for those with fair, sensitive and sun intolerant skin meaning it’s ideal for average the Irish skin type.
Although it’s not quite suncare, Vita Liberata Capture The Light contains an SPF 25 within illuminating skin finishers with opaque or translucent coverage which can be used as stand alone skin perfectors, or to accentuate a natural bronze tan. These illuminating skin finishers are considered by beauty experts to be ‘better than a BB Cream for the Body’ offering exceptional iridescence without the coverage. So although it’s not specifically suncare it’s an excellent enhancing product that has the added benefit of an SPF. I love applying this to my collar bones and legs for a flawless dewy finish.
Last but not least, Nivea have a lovely Protect & Bronze range including a refreshing After Sun. Nivea Sun Protect and Bronze SPF 30 is a lovely lotion combines reliable protection and a natural looking tan. It contains a natural plant extract which helps support skin’s own melanin production for an even and natural looking tan. Their After Sun is ideal for end of day application on holiday and is an all round bargain buy for the family. I hope you enjoyed my product picks and see something within the ranges that would work for you. Remember to stay safe in the safe and enjoy it when it’s out. Embrace the pale or your golden glow and love the skin you’re in 🙂
